The Immune System Harms Beta Cells Remain Undiscovered

Diabetes Type 1, or juvenile diabetes, takes place when the immune system begins to harm beta cells. This fails to allow the pancreas to give our body an adequate supply of insulin, a hormone that serves our body as a significant source for energy and glucose. According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), diabetes type 1 was set apart as another type of illness from diabetes type 2 in 1959. The ADA explained how this disease has been then referred to as insulin-dependent because there were patients diagnosed with diabetes that could continue producing insulin and they caught the attention of doctors and researchers. After someone is diagnosed with diabetes type 1, that person will need everyday access to insulin or they will not†¦show more content†¦The communities at risk, relating to ethnicity, are African American or Hispanic/Latino (National Institutes of Health, 2017). Furthermore, if a person is related to a patient with the disease, then the possibility of the m getting diabetes type 1 has increased due to the genetic risk. There are tests that can foretell if a person will develop the disease by checking their number of antibodies that harm beta cells, if any (Davendra Eisenbarth, 2004). Risks in the future are correlated with the fact that there are no proven ways that this disease can be stopped from developing in a person. In addition, few people can identify symptoms, prolonging the opportunity to receive immediate care and lessening severity. Mayo Clinic informs on the many symptoms of this disease that can be overlooked, for example, nausea, continual thirst, or hunger. The environment has been considered to be a cause in the development of the diabetes type 1, however, it is not certain. Examples could be Coxsackie virus or mumps virus, which are thought to provoke diabetes type 1 by swelling the pancreas (Todd, 2010). Although it is not certain, another potential risk is giving cow’s milk to an infant before the advised time. According to TRIGR, the advised time for mothers to solely breastfeed their child is half a year to eight months post giving birth. Some medicines development is depending on animal research, for instances, vaccines and insulin for diabetes and kidney transplants. However, there are many diseases that their cures are still undiscovered yet and one of them is AIDS (Tanir, 2012). Frankie L.
